Mirada de Amor (Holistic Child Development)

Mirada de Amor is an ongoing compassionate ministry serving people with disabilities and their families in Peru. Through the local Nazarene church, the project provides a welcoming and inclusive environment where participants are valued, supported and encouraged to grow.

The ministry takes a holistic approach, supporting participants in areas such as social connection, physical and cognitive development, emotional well-being and spiritual growth. Families also receive encouragement and support as they walk alongside their loved ones.

As this ministry continues to develop, NCM Canada is partnering with the local church to strengthen its capacity to provide compassionate, Christ-centred care and create greater opportunities for inclusion and belonging.

Regional Disability Ministries Gathering (Pastor & Leadership Development)

NCM Canada supported the first Regional Disability Ministries Gathering in South America, bringing together leaders, people with disabilities and family members from Brazil, Peru and Chile. The gathering created an opportunity for ministries serving people with disabilities to learn from one another, share experiences and strengthen collaboration across the region.

Participants took part in training and conversations focused on inclusion, community participation, child protection and supporting people with disabilities and their families. People with disabilities and family members were active participants in the process, helping ensure that their experiences and perspectives contributed to the discussions and future plans.

The gathering also focused on building a shared regional vision for the future, including stronger networks between ministries and a roadmap for continued collaboration. The goal is to help local churches become more welcoming, accessible and inclusive places where people with disabilities can participate fully in the life of the church and community.
