Landslide and Flooding Devastate Communities in Nepal
On August 26, 2026, a landslide along the border of Tibet and Nepal caused significant damage to riverside communities.
Families are grieving the loss of loved ones, homes, and livelihoods as they face the immediate impact of the disaster and begin the long process of recovery.
As local leaders and response teams continue assessing the situation, needs are expected to develop in the days ahead.
Families Facing Loss and Uncertainty
The landslide has left families facing significant loss and disruption.

Homes and livelihoods have been affected, leaving communities in need of immediate assistance as they begin to recover.
Approximately 600 people directly affected by the landslide are currently being reached through the initial response, with additional assistance expected as needs continue to be assessed.
The Church Is Responding
Local churches and partners are beginning to respond, walking alongside families during this difficult time.
The initial response includes providing food, essential supplies, and shelter to people directly affected by the disaster.

Through their presence and care, local churches and partners are helping families meet immediate needs while taking the first steps toward recovery and rebuilding.

In the midst of grief and uncertainty, the Church continues to be present—sharing the compassion, love, and hope of Christ.

How Canadians Can Help
Canadians can support the Nepal Landslide and Flood Response through Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Canada.
Funds designated to this response will support the compassionate response being coordinated through Nazarene Compassionate Ministries as local churches and partners respond to needs on the ground.
